[ UK ] – Open Geodemographics

There are many geodemographic classifications available from providers in both the public and private sectors. We do not prescribe any particular classification and always advise user testing and comparison. However, open geodemographics have a number of advantages.

The following geodemographic products were created with open methods, data and tools by researchers from the University of Liverpool and University College London. Click on a classification to find out more, download the data, view maps or search for you postcode assignment.

OAC

The Output Area Classification (OAC) is a UK geodemographic built partnership with the ONS and is created entirely from the 2011 census data.

LOAC

The London Output Area Classification (LOAC) is a bespoke geodemographic for London following OAC methodology, and developed in partnership with the GLA.

TOAC

The Temporal Output Area Classification (TOAC) is the output from a research project looking at geodemographic change between 2001 and 2011.
